Lazaros Belbasis
Dr Lazaros Belbasis is currently an NDPH Early Career Research Fellow at Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford. During his fellowship, he applies modern epidemiological and statistical approaches to answer causal questions using electronic health records and large biobanks.
Lazaros is a medical doctor and epidemiologist. He has been involved in medical research since the first year of his studies in the medical school. He obtained a medical degree (2015) and a PhD in Epidemiology (2020), both from University of Ioannina. His research has been funded through a PhD scholarship by Greek State Scholarships Foundation and a Research Fellowship by Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology.
Lazaros worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Meta-research Innovation Center – Berlin, where he was involved in research projects related to prediction modelling, research integrity and evidence synthesis. As an affiliate member of METRICS, Lazaros focuses on meta-research projects related to umbrella reviews, prediction modelling and health economics assessments.
