Trudy Voortman

Trudy Voortman is a visiting associate professor at METRICS and associate professor and vice-chair at the Department of Epidemiology, Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam. After training as a nutrition scientist at Wageningen University, she completed her epidemiology training at Erasmus University and Harvard School of Public Health. She leads a research group focused on nutrition and lifestyle epidemiology and serves as principal investigator in the Rotterdam Study and Generation R Study cohorts. Her research includes systematic reviews and meta-analyses alongside analyses of large cohort studies to understand how lifestyle and environmental factors influence population health across the lifecourse. She has developed and taught courses on epidemiological research methods at Erasmus, Wageningen, Cambridge, Harvard, and Stanford University. She serves in editorial and leadership roles for several international nutrition and epidemiology organizations and journals. At METRICS, she focuses on meta-research and evidence synthesis methods and she teaches the course Meta-research: Appraising Research Findings, Bias, and Meta-analysis.
