Robert N. Proctor

Robert N. Proctor, PhD is Professor of the History of Science. He specializes in 20th century science, technology, and medicine, especially the history of controversy in those fields and projects on scientific rhetoric, the cultural production of ignorance (agnotology), and the history of expert witnessing. He is a leading figure worldwide in dissecting policy biases and in spearheading efforts to understand the distortion of science and evidence in major problems such as the tobacco epidemic.
