Daniele Fanelli

Daniele Fanelli is Assistant Professor in Social Research Methods at Heriot-Watt University, visiting Fellow at the Department of Methodology, London School of Economics, Founder and Director of the startup Science of Science, and former Senior Scientist at METRICS. With a background in Evolutionary Biology, and post-graduate certificates in Scientific Communication and in Computer Science, his research is entirely devoted to understanding the nature of scientific knowledge and improving its quality. His interests include: estimating the prevalence and causes of scientific misconduct and bias, understanding the diversity of knowledge produced across disciplines, innovating methods to study and quantify knowledge using information theory, and developing new tools to assess the scientific consensus on controversial and sensitive topics.
