Cathrine Axfors

Cathrine Axfors, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the Centre of Pharmacoepidemiology within the Division of Clinical Epidemiology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. She is a medical doctor by training, with a PhD in perinatal psychiatry from Uppsala University, Sweden. Cathrine has been a postdoc fellow at METRICS (2019-2023) and the Pragmatic Evidence Lab, RC2NB, University Hospital Basel, Switzerland (2023-2024). Her research vision is to improve the generation of clinical evidence for populations traditionally excluded from clinical trials, with a current focus on perinatal pharmacoepidemiology. She is interested in finding ways to improve the reproducibility and usefulness of clinical research and pharmacoepidemiology, through meta-research, university teaching, and collaborative efforts to reform the research ecosystem.
