Daniele Fanelli

Senior Research Scientist

Daniele Fanelli trained as a naturalist, an evolutionary biologist and a science writer, before specializing in the study of scientific misconduct, bias and related issues. Using advanced quantitative methods, his research explores fundamental questions about the nature of science and the many threats to its progress, across disciplines and countries. His 2009 meta-analysis on scientific misconduct is one of the most popular papers in the Public Library of Science, counting nearly 200,000 views. He previously worked at the universities of Edinburgh, Leuven, London School of Economics, and Montreal, and is actively involved with national and international initiatives to safeguard good scientific practice, including the Council of Canadian Academies Expert Panel on Research Integrity and the Research Ethics and Bioethics Advisory Committee of CNR (Italy’s, National Research Council).
